More people facing homelessness will get the essentials they need to rebuild their lives thanks to a new partnership between Hopestead and Norfolk-based roofing, roofline and cladding contractor.
DMD Installations has named the Norwich-based homelessness charity as one of two charities to benefit from its fundraising ball in October.
Steve Bowden, DMD Installations’ Managing Director, said they hope to raise at least £10,000 for the charity.
"Hopestead delivers vital support to the most vulnerable people, and we're proud to be raising funds to help them continue making a real difference," Mr Bowden said.
“Through our charity initiatives and commitment to social value over the last 10 years, DMD continually demonstrates our ongoing pledge to our local community, partnerships and being a business that gives back, and we are proud to support Hopestead.”
The £10,000 target has made DMD Installations Hopestead's first 'gold' fundraising partner – unlocking a package of benefits including monthly meetings, joint social media content and free places at Hopestead's running and cycling events.
Hopestead works to end homelessness across the east through its Hope at Home programme, which turns empty houses into proper homes. Last year alone, the charity supported 670 people with £1.1 million worth of furniture and essentials – everything from beds and wardrobes to white goods and kitchen equipment.
The charity also runs Hope Funds, supporting frontline organisations tackling homelessness, Building Hope, which builds new homelessness accommodation, and Voice of Hope, which campaigns for change.
Chris Elliott, Hopestead's Fundraising Manager, said: "This partnership means we can furnish more homes for families moving out of homelessness.
"That's beds for children to sleep in, washing machines so parents can keep school uniforms clean, fridges to store fresh food. The basics that transform a house into somewhere people can live and thrive.
"When you've been homeless, getting your own place should be a fresh start. But too often people are moving into empty properties with nothing. DMD Installations’ support will enable us to help more people turn a house into a home."
Hopestead maintains a 97% tenancy sustainment rate, meaning almost everyone it supports stays housed long-term.
The charity has seen demand surge over the past year. Across England, 365,655 people are currently experiencing homelessness, including 164,040 children in temporary accommodation. In the East alone, over 25,000 people need support.
DMD Installations specialises in roofline, roofing and cladding installations and replacements alongside asbestos surveys and multiple construction training courses. The company has a track record of supporting local causes through its annual fundraising events.
