Home / Stories / Hopestead launches Christmas donation appeal at Riverside Morrisons in Norwich

We’ve officially launched Gifting Hope, partnering with the Norwich Riverside branch of Morrisons with our shared commitment to giving practical assistance to those in need within the local community. This campaign aims to collect donations of household essentials, such as kitchen goods, small appliances, and bedding purchased in-store by generous shoppers. These essential items will make a significant impact by supporting people moving into a new home following periods of homelessness.

Running from 27 November to 22 December, the in-store donation point at Morrisons’ Norwich Riverside branch will serve as a convenient drop-off for donated household essentials. In addition to this initiative, we’ll be there with dedicated volunteers who at the store from the 18-22 December to collect donations in person.

Marie-Claire Delbrouque, Hopestead CEO, said: It’s been a really tough year, and with winter on its way it’s a particularly difficult time for people without a safe place to call home. Morrisons has been an absolutely brilliant partner throughout, and this partnership is one we’re really proud of as it’ll help us make things a bit easier for those that have little or nothing in their new home.

Many of the people we help are single parents with young children, so anything that people are able to give will make a real impact on these families’ lives.

James Godfrey-Withey, Store Manager at Morrisons Riverside, said: We’re proud of our commitments to the local community through initiatives such as our Community Food Programme, so we’re equally proud to support Hopestead with their Christmas campaign.

Moving into a new house without the essentials needed to make it into a home is such a difficult prospect. It’s really wonderful to be involved with Hopestead’s drive to provide those things to people in need, making a genuine difference in the local community.”

This forms part of the wider Hope at Christmas campaign to collect donations and fundraising to provide essential items to people coming from a route of homelessness, which can also be made through their dedicated JustGiving page or Amazon Wishlist.
