Hopestead is hopping into the art scene by sponsoring a hare sculpture in an upcoming art trail.
Suffolk’s Hop to it! event will see dozens of giant hares dotted around Ipswich, Beccles, Lowestoft, Felixstowe and Woodbridge in summer 2025.
Hop to it! will raise funds for the event’s organisers, St Elizabeth Hospice, which supports people in East Suffolk, Great Yarmouth and Waveney.
Marie-Claire Delbrouque, Hopestead CEO, said Hop to it! would not only showcase creativity, but bring people together for a cause that matters.
She said: “We’re proud to be sponsoring the art trail St Elizabeth Hospice is bringing to Suffolk in 2025.
“At Hopestead, our goal is to end homelessness. The harsh reality is that people who have lived on the streets have a life expectancy 30 years lower than those who have a safe place to live.
“We hope our ‘Hopestead hare’ will shine a light on the severe health challenges and life-limiting conditions faced by those without a safe place to call home. And we hope to be able to help raise money for the vital work of St Elizabeth Hospice.”
Liz Baldwin, the hospice’s corporate and sponsorship fundraising manager, said: “We’re delighted that Hopestead are joining us as a sponsor for Hop to it! Suffolk 2025, especially with their focus on people who could be living with a life-limiting illness without a home to go to.
“The art trail is a vital fundraiser for St Elizabeth Hospice and a creative way to engage local communities with the specialist care that we provide to patients and families living with progressive and life-limiting illness across Ipswich, east Suffolk and Great Yarmouth and Waveney.”
Artists still have a chance to put forward their own designs for the sculptures. But they will need to hop to it themselves, as the deadline for submissions is getting hare-raisingly close. Entries are open until midnight on Saturday, August 31.
